Accomplishments and Milestones

HEAVY MINERAL SPECIALIST AND DIRECTOR OF H M RESEARCH NORWAY

I took up this role after gaining years of experience working in heavy mineral provenance studies following completion of my PhD.

May 2018 - Present

HEAVY MINERAL SPECIALIST AT HM RESEARCH ASSOCIATES LTD.

March 2013 - December 2017

I stepped into the role of heavy mineral specialist on completion of my PhD. I was involved in several industry projects that focused on the study of samples collected from offshore wells post-well completion in addition to spending time offshore carrying out heavy mineral analysis at wellsite in order to assist in drilling decisions for both exploration and production wells.

PHD RESEARCHER

2009 - 2013

I completed my PhD Research into a palaeo-deltaic sedimentary sequence of the Colorado River whilst studying at the University of Aberdeen. I completed two full field seasons in southern California , each followed by laboratory work and heavy mineral analysis.
The project focused on the age and evolution of the Colorado River, with an interest in palaeo-Colorado River deposits in the Salton Trough. I studied the provenance of ancient deltaic deposits to discover changes in the catchment areas of the ancestral Colorado River. Samples collected in the field were analysed using Heavy Mineral Analysis as well as some zircon dating. The project also included a palynological study of the palaeo-delta of the ~ 5.3 Ma Colorado River.
The provenance study also added knowledge to the evolution and timing of the Grand Canyon.
