A PROVENANCE STUDY OF CENOZOIC PALAEO-DELTAIC SEDIMENTS IN CALIFORNIA AS A TOOL FOR UNDERSTANDING THE EVOLUTION OF THE COLORADO RIVER

2013

This is my PhD thesis completed at the University of Aberdeen. It provides a detailed provenance study of a palaeo-deltaic sedimentary sequence, providing an insight into aspects of the evolutionary changes of the Colorado River and its catchment. The study includes detail of the Colorado River delta basin prior to its arrival into the Gulf of California with a focus on heavy mineral analysis and additional insight into the environmental conditions from a palynology study.
